Google Asks Court To Extend Monitoring for Microsoft

Google yesterday urged a federal court to extend its supervision of Microsoft to ensure that it complies with a 2002 antitrust consent decree, arguing that Microsoft has not done enough to make sure its new desktop search product leaves room for competitors.

European Union Probe to Look at All Search Engines

BRUSSELS, Belgium — A European Union probe triggered by concerns over how long Google Inc. stores user information has widened to include all Internet search engines.

The EU’s panel of national data protection officers said it’s now concerned over the retention of data that the companies use to deliver more relevant search results and advertising. Some fear the data could be targeted by hackers and governments. (more…)

Apple says iPhone will play Youtube videos

BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhuanet) — Apple Inc. announced Wednesday the iPhone will play Youtube videos when it ships next week.

Apple said in a release that about 10,000 Youtube videos will be available in time for iPhone’s launch. YouTube, a subsidiary of Google Inc., will be recoding the rest of its videos into the H.264 format used by the iPhone by fall. (more…)

YouTube released its mobile portal

YouTube released its mobile portal which is available now for all WAP 2.0 devices with an included 3GPP video player. Unlike the web version, which is using Flash videos, the mobile version encodes videos in the 3GPP standard.
While mostly all 3G/UMTS devices supports 3GPP as well as 3GPP is the standard for video MMS, for Windows Mobile it means the device has to support 3GPP (more…)

Adobe sees Google Gears as a complement to AIR,Flex and CS3

Adobe reported strong fiscal second quarter results and gave some color on Creative Suite 3 demand, which is strong, and AIR’s role in the jam-packed rich internet application space.

Fueled by Creative Suite 3 sales–the product launched in April–Adobe reported record revenue of $745.6 million, up 17 percent from a year ago. Excluding charges, Adobe reported a profit of $223.2 million, or 37 cents a share. Wall Street was expecting earnings of 35 cents a share, according to Thomson Financial. (more…)

Developers have big plans for Gears, the Google browser plug-in designed to provide offline access to web-hosted applications.

Salesforce and Google: Joins Hands for Google Gears and AdWords

Preceded by flashing colored lights and a brief video about the business Web, salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff took the stage during a launch on press conference to announce the alliance with Google around AdWord integrations.
